Bluegill Pottery Cherry Blossom Butter Dish

A beautifully impressed texture of leaves, cherry blossoms and little flowers decorate the surface of this covered butter dish. The cherry blossoms are created from varying sizes of handmade clay stamps and have a raised detail in the middle of the flowers that is glazed with a light yellow. The background is a neutral green and the blossoms have an iridescent pink to periwinkle glaze that shimmers in the light. Tiny dots of reddish purple glaze create highlights of color throughout the piece.  A small handle aids in lifting the cover, which protects your butter from the air, insects or even curious pets, while allowing it to stay soft for spreading on toast. Holds one stick of butter. All the work is individually handmade, so each piece will be unique. Glazes are food safe and microwave and dishwasher safe.

Firing takes place in an oxidation atmosphere which empowers both subtle and brilliant colors to work as a whole in the composition. Handcrafted in North Carolina.
