Tile Box with Abstract Discs Lid
Don Drumm is known for bringing the well received, mid-century brutalist style into people’s homes and lives with everyday objects for decades. This pewter box is designed and hand crafted by Don. You'll find Don's signature on the underside of each lid. Additionally, each of these boxes comes with a "Certificate of Authenticity" that Don personally signed.
This box is from the abstract collection Don designed. The lid for this collection has a distinctive design of four roundels - each with a different abstract pattern of wavy lines and concentric circles.
One specific design element you’ll find in each box is the interior base tile. In this pewter box, the interior, central, base consists of a mixture of scalene and isosceles triangles. These triangles are low profile, so that they do not interfere with the function of the piece.Along the sides for this particular box, you will find: a traditional Don Drumm sun face, with a pointy chin and soulful eyes. This design is followed by a grouping of nubby circles. Holding this piece in your hands will be of interest both from a visual and tactile point of view. The third side is represented by a large circle that is unevenly divided into five sections by wavy lines. Each section consists of perpendicular undulating lines and this pattern is interrupted by small circles, which helps ground the focus of the viewer. The final side consists of a similar triangular concept as the central, interior tile. However the difference is that the exterior triangles are arranged in a more formal pattern with smaller triangles inserted randomly.
